The Eastgate Theatre is a clever conversion of a former church. It caters for a wide range of interests and age groups.

Dawyck Botanic gardens are an outstation of the Edinburgh Botanic gardens. The new, state-of-the-art visitor centre opened in May and is well worth a visit. Dawyck Botanic Garden. Other gardens in the area include Kailzie Gardens.
There are also a number of local gardens that participate in the Scotland's Gardens Sheme.
